Create your account and set up your business

Sign up, enter your business details, pick currency, time zone and financial year, and create your first shop location in GetJewelryPOS.

This article takes you from the signup form to a working business with its first shop location. Signing up takes about 2 minutes and the first location about 5 more. There is nothing to install: GetJewelryPOS runs in your browser.

Before you start

  • Your registered business name and trading address.
  • The currency you price in, and your local time zone.
  • The month your financial year starts (ask your accountant if unsure).
  • Your tax registration number and the tax rates you charge, if any.
  • A logo file (PNG or JPG) for receipts, tags and your online store. Optional, you can add it later.

How do I sign up?

You sign up from the website with your name, a login, and a password. The free trial runs for 14 days and there is no minimum contract.

  1. Open the signup page from Get started on the website and choose a plan. You can change plan later from Settings → Subscription.
  2. Enter your name, a username and a strong password. Use a password manager; this login will see cost prices and cash totals.
  3. Confirm the signup. You land on the business setup screen.

What do I enter for the business?

The business is the top level of your account. Everything below it, such as shops, registers, staff and products, belongs to it.

  1. On Business details, enter the Business name exactly as it should appear on receipts and invoices.
  2. Upload your Logo. It is used on receipts, tags, job sheets and the online store.
  3. Choose your Currency. Prices, cost, reports and the online store all use it. Pick the one you price in at the counter, not the one your supplier invoices in.
  4. Set Currency symbol placement (before or after the amount) to match your local habit.
  5. Choose your Time zone. Sales, register closes and repair due dates are stamped in this zone, so set it to where the shop is, not where you are today.
  6. Choose the Financial year start month. Profit, tax and sales reports group by this year.
  7. Choose the Date format and Time format your staff read most easily.
  8. Click Next.

How do I set tax?

Enter tax once at business level, then pick it per product or per location.

  1. On the Tax step, enter your Tax number label and value (for example a sales tax permit or TRN). It prints on invoices.
  2. Add each Tax rate with a name and percentage. If you charge more than one tax on the same sale, combine them into a Tax group later in Settings → Tax rates.
  3. Choose whether your selling prices include or exclude tax. UAE showrooms usually price VAT-inclusive; most US stores add sales tax at the register.

How do I create my first location?

A location is a physical shop, showroom or bench workshop. Each has its own stock, registers, invoice layout and receipt language.

  1. On the Business location step, enter the Location name, for example “Main Street showroom”.
  2. Fill in the Address, City, State/Province, Country and Zip code. These print on receipts.
  3. Choose the Invoice layout and Receipt printer type (browser printing or a receipt printer). You can refine both in Settings → Invoice settings.
  4. Choose the Default selling price group if you use separate retail and trade prices. Leave it on the default if not.
  5. Click Finish. You are taken to the dashboard.

You can add more locations later from Settings → Business locations; see Add locations, registers and staff.

What should I do next?

Work through these in order. Each one depends on the one before it.

  1. Add registers and staff logins: Add locations, registers and staff.
  2. Load your catalogue: Import products from CSV.
  3. If you sell gold by weight, enter today’s rates: Set gold rates and making charges.
  4. Check your online store. It is generated from your products automatically.
  5. Make a test sale: Sell a serialised item.

For an overview of the whole flow, see How it works. If you are moving from another system, read Switch from another POS first; CSV import help costs nothing.

Common questions

Can I change the currency after I start selling? You can change it in Settings → Business settings, but existing sales and reports keep the amounts they were recorded with and are not converted. Choose carefully before your first real sale.

I have two shops. Do I need two accounts? No. One business holds several locations, each with its own stock and registers. How many locations you can add depends on your plan; see Pricing.

Do I need special hardware to start? No. A computer or tablet with a browser is enough to sell. Receipt printers, barcode scanners and tag printers are optional; see the Hardware guide.

Still stuck? Message your market’s team on WhatsApp from the contact page, or log in and try the steps again.
