Set up and publish your online store
Your online store is built from your products. Choose what shows, hide cost and weight, use price on request, add photos, go live, add a custom domain.
This article explains how the online store that comes with every plan works, and how to decide what it shows before you publish it. The store is built automatically from your catalogue, so products, prices, photos and stock are always the same as at the counter.
Before you start
- Products are added, by hand or by CSV. See Import products from CSV.
- Your business name, logo and contact details are filled in under Settings → Business settings. See Create your account.
- Photos of your key pieces, square or close to it, on a plain background.
- A decision on which pieces you want online at all. Many shops start with a selection, not the whole stock.
How is the store built?
Every product you add appears in the store with its name, photos, price and whether it is in stock. When you sell a piece at the counter, transfer it, or reserve it on layaway, it stops showing as available online. When you recalculate gold prices, the store prices change with the counter. There is nothing to sync.
The online store is included in every plan at no extra cost. See Online store (included).
Step 1: Choose what is shown
- Go to Settings → Online store.
- Under Products to show, choose All products or Only products marked for the store.
- If you choose the second, open products in Products → List products and tick Show in online store. Bulk edit works for a whole category.
- Choose which Location’s stock the store shows as available, if you have more than one shop.
Step 2: Decide what customers can see
Cost price is never shown in the store. Nothing in Step 2 can change that.
- Under Product details shown, tick the fields customers may see: description, karat, stone details, certificate lab and report number.
- Weight: show or hide. Many gold shops hide weight online so customers cannot work out the price per gram against a rival’s rate.
- Serial / SKU: usually hidden. A style code is friendlier.
- Click Save.
Step 3: Use price on request where it fits
For high-value or one-of-a-kind pieces you may want an enquiry rather than a basket.
- Open the product in Products → List products.
- Tick Price on request.
- Save. The store shows the piece with an Enquire button instead of a price and Add to cart.
You can also switch price on request on for every product above a price you choose, under Settings → Online store → Price on request above.
Step 4: Add photos
- Open a product and click Upload images. The first image is the main one; drag to reorder.
- Add two or three angles: front, side, and on the hand or neck if you have it.
- Keep the background and lighting the same across pieces. A consistent tray of photos looks better than a few excellent ones.
Pieces without photos still appear, with a placeholder. Hide them from the store until they are photographed if you prefer.
Step 5: Check your store details and go live
- In Settings → Online store, fill in Store name, Logo, short About text, delivery and collection options, and your returns policy.
- Choose payment options for online orders. GetJewelryPOS works with your card processor; it does not process cards itself.
- Click Preview store and look at it on your phone as well as the computer.
- When you are happy, click Publish. The store is live at the web address shown on the same screen.
- Share the address on your social profiles and print it on receipts (Settings → Invoice settings → Footer text).
Online orders arrive in Sales → Online orders and take stock from the location you chose in Step 1.
Can I use my own domain?
A custom domain comes with the managed website upgrade. We build and look after a full showroom website for you, connected to the same catalogue, on your own domain. It is $149/mo plus a $490 setup fee, and the build takes about 14 days. See Managed jewelry website.
The Showroom Bundle includes the Showroom plan, the managed website and a marketing snapshot for $239/mo, with no setup fee.
Common questions
Does the store cost extra? No. It is included in every plan and built from the products you already have.
Will a customer see a piece that has just been sold at the counter? No. Stock updates the moment the sale is finalized, and the piece shows as sold or disappears, depending on your settings.
Can I take the store offline again? Yes. Click Unpublish in Settings → Online store. Your products and settings stay as they are, ready to publish again.
Still stuck? Message your market’s team on WhatsApp from the contact page, or log in and try the steps again.
